Two Sparrows For a Farthing
Matthew 10:29 KJV 29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

How often do we allow ourselves to fall for Satan's lies? Do we believe him when he whispers in our ears that God doesn't really know or care about each of us as individuals, after all there are six and a half billion people on this planet today? Do we allow ourselves to put God in a box as to what He can or will do for His creation? There are a lot of us who don't want to believe that God searches each and every heart and that God sees each and every deed done in our life.

The Bible tells a different story, one example is given in the book of Luke, Chapter 12: 2For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. 3Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

One of my favorite passages is in the Psalms, Chapter 139: 1O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3Thou compassest my path and my lying down and art acquainted with all my ways. 4For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. 5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. 6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. 7Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10Even there shall thy hand lead me and thy right hand shall hold me. 11If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. 13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. 17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

Yes! You are special in God's eyes! He formed you in the womb and He knew you before the earth was formed. He has written each of your days in His book before one of them came to be; His thoughts are on you day and night for you are precious to Him. Is it any wonder that Jesus could say: 6Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

For the Christian these are words of great comfort but for the unbeliever, who is lost in sin, these words bring much denial. No wonder Satan is working so hard to have God's word removed from the world today and one day God will allow him to succeed for we are told that during the tribulation there will be a famine of the word of God.

This devotion started out to be a story about a Pastor and two sparrows. However, God led me to write the above so it went longer than I had intended. If you would like to read the story of the Pastor and the two sparrows I will post it on the web-site. You can access from the link below.

May God bless and keep you as you learn to walk by faith in the plan He has for your life.
