HOW IMPORTANT IS PRAYER?

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.

James 5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The above are just a sampling of scripture admonishing those who claim the name of Christ to pray. No matter where you are reading in the Bible you will find the Prophets, the Apostles and all whom God blessed were people who knew how to pray. When miracles happen it is because God has answered a prayer. Those who longed to walk close to God prayed. We were made to have communion with the living God. Jesus was crucified so that you could regain that direct relationship with God thru prayer.

Romans 8:26-27 26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

The Holy Spirit which you were given as a seal unto the return of Christ for His own, who molds and shapes our hearts unto the likeness of Christ is able to work inside us when we are in prayer and even say the things in our hearts which we cannot ourselves utter. You have the power of God residing inside you, the privilege, honor and right to come boldly before the throne of God in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I write all these things because God has been working on my heart and shown me the importance of prayer in my life. Lately he has shown me this web-site should be a focal point for other Christians to learn about God’s will for them to pray so they can draw closer to Him. This is why He led me to write the series on how to pray according to scripture and how important it is to our walk by faith to pray for others so we can see the miracles He wants to perform in our lives.

I truly believe that the Lord is trying through scripture to show us the way and if we look at scripture it teaches us to pray. Through prayer the Holy Spirit works in our hearts and shows God what is in our hearts. Through prayer God teaches us faith, through prayer God draws us closer to Him, through prayer we learn and grow more spiritual where others can see Christ in us.
