Hello, I am known as Lot's wife although in real life I was known as Beth.
I was treated with much respect as a woman of my status should be, it is about time I was given the opportunity to tell my
own story instead of those measly fifteen little words Moses allotted to me in his book of Genesis.
My story begins when I met Lot; he and Abraham with all their company were passing through Beth-el where I was born.
My father was a poor goat herder who barely kept food on the table. Life was very hard especially for a woman and when
Lot showed favor to me I jumped at the chance to have a better life.
I soon found out that Lot and his uncle Abraham were very religious men. They taught me who God was and I found out
how righteous a man Lot was, which was a true blessing considering all the other men I had known who were all heathens.
At least Lot knew how to treat a woman with respect.
Living with Abraham and Lot gave me privileges I had never known before. There were nice clothes for me to wear
and always plenty of food to eat. Except for living in tents, it was a good life. I almost got used to living in the tent since
it was warm and dry and we had lots of soft blankets and pillows to lie upon. We had a great many servants so I didn't have to do all the work like I did
when I was growing up at home.
Then there was trouble between Abraham's people and Lot's because we had grown into such a large group, which really
worked out nice. Abraham told Lot they should separate and for him to choose which land he wanted. I convinced Lot to choose the plains of Jordan which was a beautiful well watered country with many green fields and pastures for our flocks and herds. Besides, Sodom, a large beautiful city with buildings and people and places to buy the finer things of life was close by. Lot being the good husband he was listened to me and we moved to the plains of Jordan and pitched our tent towards Sodom.
The people would come and pay what we would ask for our sheep and cattle and soon I had convinced Lot to buy a large house
in the city. We hired more servants and everyone would come to pay homage to us. Lot became a very well respected man in
the city.

I began giving parties and having feasts every week and life was so very exciting. Lot bought me fine silks for clothing
and showered me with jewels; everyone knew and respected us. It was more than I had ever thought life could be. We had two
lovely daughters and our life was perfect until one evening while Lot was sitting at the city gate two strangers came to
visit Sodom. Lot invited them to stay with us for the night; this caused the people of the city to come to our door demanding
Lot bring them out. When Lot refused the people got mad and I thought they were going to break down the door; that's when I
found out they were angels. I was watching with my daughters from our upstairs bedroom window when all the men who were
trying to get in suddenly went blind; you wouldn't believe all the confusion but they all finally left and we went to bed.
The next morning the angels said we all had to leave because God was going to destroy the city. The angels said the people
of Sodom were wicked and had provoked God's anger.

What a turn of events this was; I didn't believe for a second God would destroy such a beautiful city. I tried to get Lot
to ignore the strangers but they grabbed us and practically drug us out of the gates with not much more than the clothes we
were wearing. They just kept pushing us further and further from the city; then it started raining fire and brimstone down
upon the city. Oh how my heart ached and the tears flowed from my eyes to see all the beauty being destroyed. Everything we
had was being burned up; everything I loved was being taken away from me. I just couldn't stand it. I could never go back to
being poor and living in tents again, all my friends were dying and I would never see them again, it was just too much to
ask of anyone. I stopped and turned around to watch in horror as everything I loved was being destroyed and that's when it
happened. I turned into a pillar of salt.
I just wanted what was rightfully mine!
